Here is something Melanson and the Corps of Commissionaires or Wayne
Grant and his buddy Chucky Leblanc will not tell you. I have a
complaint in Federal Court right now *court file numbe T-1557-15) It
is about my being BARRED from Legislative properties while seeking a
seat in Parliament. The CBC, the RCMP, the Commissionaires and all
their cops pals know that the barring document is written in ENGLISH
ONLY just like the one barring Chucky Leblanc certainly is. However my
document is signed by the Sergeant at Arms and Chucky's is not. Anyone
can see what Chucky and his many buddies in the CBC, the Council of
Canadians and the QSLS wackos published about Chucky's nonsense.years
ago. Anyone notice everytime he is arrested on Legislative property
the Crown always drops the charges after I make a few calls and send
some emails?????

Roger Melanson dodges questions about unilingual commissionaire

Roger Melanson wouldn't answer questions about events leading to Wayne Grant losing some work hours

The provincial cabinet minister responsible for government buildings has refused to discuss how his department handled the case of unilingual commissionaire Wayne Grant.
Roger Melanson told reporters on Friday that the Department of Transportation and Infrastructure insists that the Corps of Commissionaires meets the requirements of the Official Languages Act. But he wouldn't respond to evidence that his officials played a direct role in the events leading to Grant losing some of his work hours.

"We've never instructed," he said. "We've outsourced this service and we renewed the agreement in 2013 … We don't get involved in an H.R. issue like this. What we do get involved in, is that the laws of New Brunswick are respected."
When commissionaires greet people, they're required to greet people in a bilingual fashion.- Roger Melanson
Earlier this month, a senior manager with the Corps of Commissionaires told CBC News that Grant's hours were scaled back as a result of discussions with Melanson's department.

Grant was filling in at Chancery Place when he was unable to provide service in French to Official Languages Commissioner Katherine d'Entremont, who responded by launching an investigation into how provincial building security services comply with bilingualism requirements.

But Corps chief executive officer for New Brunswick and PEI,  Peter Kramers, said Grant's hours were cut after the province decided, during discussions of the Chancery incident, that his regular posting at the Centennial Building should have a higher bilingualism requirement.

"We were following the client request," Kramers said on Nov. 6.

And a June 16 email from the Corps to one of Melanson's officials, obtained through a Right to Information request, shows the government signed off on posting Grant to Chancery for a few days, even though he was unilingual.

"We do have a limited number of bilingual pers[onnel], however we could have supplied if asked," said the email to Gary Lynch, the executive director of facilities management at the department.

Kramers confirmed to CBC News that "the client was consulted before Commissionaire Grant was temporarily assigned to the Chancery reception desk."

But Melanson would not comment on any of that information on Friday.

He repeated several times that the Corps is a third-party contractor that has to obey the language law, but that makes its own staffing decisions.

"There's an agreement with them, plus there's a defined way of doing things," he said.

"When commissionaires greet people, they're required to greet people in a bilingual fashion. The Corps of Commissionaires needs to make their decisions based on the laws that exist in New Brunswick."

He repeatedly did not respond to specific questions about the June 16 email, and the change to bilingualism requirements at the Centennial Building.

"We never told the Corps of Commissionaires who has to do the job," he said. "We said the job has to be done according to the law."

Got to love politicians. Totally dodge the question because they don't have the approved answer provided by advisers.....

Just obey the language law and if you can't then you will lose your job, not my problem,

Yamaha
This from a Liberal government who promised openness. About the only thing open is Rogers mouth so he can put his foot in.

Myview
This provinces government elite Are an absolutely disgusting embarrassment, the official languages act is a complete and utter screw up!

Fundy Coast
The majority are starting to feel threatened by legislated bilingualism and things like the "active offer" which is literally an unwanted language. It is time to put an end to the sense of "entitlement" the francophones have for their artificially created fake language "rights" that were foisted on the people. All for one and one for all, time to make English the one and only official language that treats ALL minorities with the respect and equality they deserve.

Sheeple
I hope I get lucky and get expelled from this province because I can only speak English. and get sent to a southern state. The only difference is I wouldn't come back here I have never seen such a backward place. Maybe I would stay down there and my decendants would come back in a few hundred years and want everything they lost back Read my lips You lost the war get over it and try to speak the universal language which is English.

Brad MacDonald
What year is it anyway? Kill her position altogether! Finally reunite the people of New Brunswick instead of this deliberate and constant effort to segregate us. This isn't even about language anymore...actually, it never was!
