Ridicule of new Celtic affairs post angers proponent
Former member of committee that recommended a Celtic affairs minister
applauds Gallant government By Vanessa Blanch, CBC News Posted: Jun
09, 2016 12:20 PM AT

Danny Taylor of New Maryland was thrilled when Premier Brian Gallant
announced this week that a Celtic affairs minister was being added to
his cabinet and Taylor fully expected the news would be met with
celebration rather than ridicule.

"I'm really disappointed and angry and so are many people," Taylor
told Information Morning Fredericton.

"How this has taken a turn from something that should have been very
positive in this province and turned it into a language issue and even
a political battle ... it's really shameful."

Some have called it an attempt by Gallant to pander to cultural groups.

Brian Gallant's new Celtic affairs cabinet post blasted as 'bizarre'

Cabinet shuffle adds 2 new faces and moves all but 2 members

Taylor was part of a Celtic affairs committee formed in 2010 when the
province's Irish Canadian Cultural Association, Scottish Cultural
Association and Welsh Association all got together to commission a
study which recommended a Celtic affairs branch be established.

"It was something that has been talked about for years and years and
years and finally the three groups came together and started talking
about what needed to be done in order to have that branch developed in
government."
Celtic culture neglected

Taylor says 40 per cent of New Brunswickers have a Celtic background
and the heritage and culture of his people is being lost.

"You hear about many other cultures constantly but never do you
hear about the Celts in this province and the contributions they have
made over the years."
    - Danny Taylor

He and his fellow committee members hoped the added attention would
mean more funding for research and festivals, but he says it's not
just about money.

"Money always comes into play but it's not necessarily about money —
it's about bringing attention and the awareness of the culture here in
the province," Taylor said.

"You hear about many other cultures constantly but never do you hear
about the Celts in this province and the contributions they have made
over the years."

Premier Brian Gallant said on Monday the new position will allow "a
co-ordinated approach" to funding Irish, Scottish and Welsh festivals.
Celtic people separate

Taylor argues the perception that people with Celtic heritage can be
included with the English people of New Brunswick is incorrect and
shows the need for more cultural education.

"We shouldn't be lumped into that group. We're totally separate. Our
heritage, our culture, our language is totally different and that's
not fair … it would be the same as taking First Nations who
predominantly speak English and lumping them in with the English —
that's not right."
Celtic Affairs - Danny Taylor
08:22

Taylor rejects the perception Gallant appointed a Celtic affairs
minister as a way to appease anglophones in New Brunswick and is
instead applauding the premier.

"Unfortunately it's got lost in this political battle for language …
this has been in the works long before language has been an issue in
this province and finally a government has had the backbone to finally
do something."

Remember mean old me? You dudes invited my opinion about your latest
Gay nonsense I heard on CBC correct? Never mind the Hard Copy of many
documents I sent 12 years ago that you acknowleged not once but TWICE
(Who sent you the second set?) did you lawyers even bother to read one
of my emails over the years since. DUHHH? My first lawsuit in the USA
applies directly to what you were bitching about today on CBC,

As the Law Society tries to make a rule to exclude students from
Trinity from practicing Law for a fee in New Brunswick perhaps you
dudes should recall your actions against First Canadain Title and your
support of First Canadain Title against my family and I. EH?

These are your words and that of Bob Kuhn

“And we don't feel those graduates would be fully equipped to
represent the interests of New Brunswickers.”

Trinity Western President Bob Kuhn says that in itself is discrimination.

Earlier this month, he argued before the Nova Scotia Barristers'
Society that freedom of religion should apply to lawyers too.

"It's prejudicial. It's the definition of prejudice.” says Kuhn.
“There's no indication that they’ll do anything other than represent
themselves in the best professional and ethical fashion possible.”

The Law Society of New Brunswick has invited Trinity Western to make
its case at a meeting in St. Andrews in June.

“It’s a question of balance between the freedom of religion and the
freedom of expression,” says Marc Richard, executive director of the
NB Law Society.

The Law Society of New Brunswick is inviting the public to comment on
their website until the end of this month".

Correct?

Now I will address Mr Kuhn

FYI Marc Richard and his cohorts know that one particular lawsuit of
mine in 2002 was all about Freedom of Religion and lawyers. Some
documents pertaining to it can be found around page 100 of this old
pdf file. Trust that the New Brunswick Law Society etc has had hard
copy of this file and a great deal more since 2004.

http://www.checktheevidence.com/pdf/2619437-CROSS-BORDER-txt-.pdf

I have received many answers since then but the ones I got from the
Governor General and New Brunswick's Arroney General 10 years ago were
more than enough. Thos were within the email I sent you before this
one. Here they are again

http://www.checktheevidence.com/pdf/2526023-DAMOSIntegrity-yea-right.-txt.pdf

However Mr Kuhn and I were not born yesterday. We both should know by
now that ethical politicians, cops, lawyers and priests etc are either
myths or very rare birds indeed. In my humble opinion Justice takes
time and in the end it is usually served on cold plates by the ghosts
of laymen. The wheels of Justice do turn slowly through no fault of
its own. The delay tactics of greedy questionable professionals who
practice law for a fee as they try hard to protect the reputation of
fellow members of the Bar are the true problem with the Justice
System. The gang called the Members of the Bar always. try hard to
stop a person from speaking for themselves in the interests of swift
justice and they never practice the spirit of full disclosure never
minf upholding the law. I made it my business to prove it.

Mr Kuhn I must say proffessing about the law and ethics to students is
clean work but I also noticed that you practiced law as well.  Thus
you should understand my doubts about you. Do you even recall my last
email?

BTW I loved it whe First Canadian Title used Barry Morrison beat the
Law Society at their own wicked game. It is way past high time for me
to sue the CROWN, First Canadian, the Law Society and of course all
the lawyers who assisted in the cover up of my concerns about the
unethical actions of First Canadain and the NB Law Society etc against
my family and I.

N.B. Law Society questions anti-gay law program
Trinity Western University asks students and faculty to sign
heterosexual covenant.
The Law Society of New Brunswick is asking whether students from
Trinity Western in Langley B.C., a private university, should be
admitted to the New Brunswick Bar.
Trinity Western is moving ahead with a law program where it will ask
its students to uphold biblical values.

Trinity Western will make its case at a meeting in St. Andrews in June. (CBC)

The school calls itself an evangelical Christian community and asks
students and faculty to sign a covenant promising to abstain from sex
outside a heterosexual marriage.
UNB's society of gay law students says Trinity graduates should not be
welcomed in New Brunswick.

“To gain a legal education in a setting where you're learning about
fundamental values of Canadian society as reflected through the legal
system, without appreciating the equality of gay and lesbian people in
Canada, would be a huge shortcoming,” says Ted Flett, chair of OUTLaw
NB.

The Great Faggot and Lesbo Wars
I was a child in the Sixties. I remember the sexual revolution, and
the liberating effect on humanity of the pill. How that freed and
liberated women in so many ways. But above all and I say this sort of
tongue in cheek, it gave us all the God given human right to "fuck our
brains out," with impunity.

Then the AIDS pandemic arrived and the whole of Christendom blamed the
"whirlwind" on the "faggots" fucking and "niggers fucking monkeys" in
Africa, Christendom and the "born agains" blamed the pandemic,  on the
seeds of  depravity sown by  harlots, "secular humanists" and
promiscuity of "patient zero."  just ask Jerry Falwell, Oral Roberts,
Jim and Tammy Faye Baker and the rest of the full of integrity
religious nut crowd.

The "whirlwind" has abated, well sort of. White faggots in the
"developed world are not dying so much. But the "nigger" faggots in
Africa, and South America are, but alas no one gives a shit about
these faggots. Oh yeah, "gimme that ole time religion," every time!
Calvinism at its best!

But the Faggots, Lesbos and assorted varieties of nature's mistakes
are not less hypocritical than the "I love Jesus and the sinner
crowd."  Our so called LGBTQ social activists are very much less
concerned about the death rates of faggots in the Third World , as
they are the political and societal  disgust of LGBTQ "people" in the
vast majority of the world. The laws concerning homosexuality in
Russia, Uganda, China, Nigeria, Iran, Iraq ad infinitum, are not an
affront to the "human rights" views in these countries and societies,
but an accurate reflection of them.

Our faggot "civil society" cares more about politics and image, than
the right of Third World faggots to live. The right to life means
little to the LGBTQ community if it isn't their own lives at risk.

Homosexuality is NOT a "human right." To be "accepted" in society as a
homosexual or deviant in most of the nation-states on the planet, is
NOT any sort of inherent right. Just because it has some legality here
in Canada does NOT make it legal, acceptable or a right in another
sovereign society and or state. "Here endth the lesson," children!

The faggot and deviant crowd are continuing to bully, insult, coerce
decent people who simply don't want anything to with their "sexuality"
or them. In the name of "life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness."
Religious groups, denominations, parishes, individual congregations,
and Christian institutions of education are targeted for abuse, by the
"brown bung hole crowd."

Trinity Western University is  a well respected educational
institution run or administered by a religious denomination. Much Like
Brigham University, Notre Dame, Maryknoll, and hundreds if not
thousands of universities in North America. They have as I understand
already received authorities from the  appropriate groups to  start a
Law School. But alas the faggot special interest groups are incensed
about the idea of Trinity Western University having a law school.
Trinity Western University akin to Brigham Young University. Liberty
Baptist College and many others require their students to adhere to a
"code of Christian conduct" whilst a student. Faggots and their
special interest organizations are furious that they are being asked
to behave themselves, not be faggots, and keep the peckers in their
pants, whilst they are students at Trinity Western College.

The faggots are whining, bitching, complaining that their inherent,
God given "right to fuck" has been removed from them. If the faggots
who seem so desirous of attending Trinity Western, and can't control
themselves whilst there, the solution seems simple enough....attend
another law school.

This appears to be another "engagement" in the faggot's battle upon
decent, normal, humans, and to bully them into accepting faggots for
what they are. Faggots and the LGBTQ "community" have long been at war
with Christians, to make them stop viewing or believing homosexuality
is a sin. Faggots and their lesbian cousins believe in the freedom of
religious faith, just as long as they approve of that faith.

Now faggots are trying to argue that being a Christian adhering to a
Christian code of conduct renders one incapable of  representing or
acting in behalf of faggots or other "different" groups legally.

Someone ought remind the forces of cock sucking and  effeteness of the
old Roman saw...."We have met the enemy and they are, us!

Liars. Cheats and Faggots Whining About Law School at TWU
If you have a thousand lawyers buried up to their necks in sand, what
do you have? A serious shortage of sand.

Trinity Western University in BC is Christian University that is
opening a law school. Church run Universities such as Notre Dame
University, and Brigham Young University are just two examples of
church affiliated institutions that abhor homosexuality and still
operate with hundreds of others, law schools.

Many Christian or religious post secondary institutions, require
students sign a pledge to adhere to a prescribed code of conduct. A
big item on the list of no no's being, no fucky fucky outside the
bounds of matrimony. This applies to all students heterosexual or
normal, and nature's anomalies. Trinity Western University is one such
school. Much to the chagrin of  fags and dykes everywhere in Canada
Trinity Western University has an undisputed record and tradition of
academic excellence. The fags that have attended there claim to have
acquired a excellent education.

Canada's faggot "community" is up in arms about a code of conduct that
all students are expected to adhere to is "discriminatory of dykes and
faggots" because it interferes with these animals "God given right of
promiscuity," or rather the animals perceive that it does.

So our faggot and dyke "community" is doing to Trinity Western  what
they castigate the Russians for doing to the LGBTQ "community" in
Russia, bullying it, and discriminating against Christians. Now that's
pretty gay. Well I guess that is "one way to win friends, influence
people, and gain acceptance within society....or not.

The LBGTQ "community" prevaricate and propagandize the numbers of
nature's little anomalies in the world. Most faggot animals claim
that 10 % of the planet are gay or Queer. Most reputable scholars put
the number betwixt 4 % or 5%. Universities and post grad programmes
are by definition "discriminatory." The stupid, lazy, weak of mind ,
the analytical, unread, without integrity and or the unaccomplished,
need not apply. That alone excludes more people on the planet, than
there are fags and dykes.

No amount of trickery, propaganda, prevarication or criminal behavior
will make more people or any people to accept these animals as real
Canadians.

Faggot bastards lose. Trinity Western University wins!
There are literally scores of private religious universities in North
America. Liberty Baptist, Brigham Young University, not to mention the
scores of Jesuit run institutions. And in Canada Trinity Western
University in BC. Trinity Western University has an outstanding
academic standing and tradition or longstanding parade of great
graduates. An education obtained at Trinity Western University is an
excellent, and well regarded one.

Most of, if not all the Evangelical run schools require students to
sign a "covenant of conduct" proscribing sex with dogs, cats, gay sex,
premarital sex, sex with married women, unmarried women, no  fun with
Trannies, it is your basic "keep it in your pants agreement while
you're here covenant. This sort of thing is very common in religious
education institutions throughout North America. There is absolutely
nothing new about them, and these post secondary institutions thrive
not in spite of these practices, but because of them.

The Faggot pedophiles, and the rest of the LGBTQ "community" is and
was outraged. When Trinity Western University applied to open a Law
School some months ago. The Faggots and the rest of nature's anomalies
whine and have whined that the covenant "discriminates on the basis of
sexual orientation and questions how the law school would educate
students about discrimination and equality rights ."

Obviously this was merely another asinine attempt by the LGBTQ
"community" to politically pillory and illegally attack another
religious institution for its moral and religious integrity. Trinity
Western University is not telling Faggots not to fuck each other in
the ass. But everyone to more or less keep it in their pants or
panties.

Now our Christian Brothers at Trinity Western University had already
cleared two major hurdles to open a Faculty of Law  with the approvals
of the Federation of Law Societies of Canada. And the BC Ministry of
Advanced Education. Provincial Law Societies have final say on whether
to recognize a Law School as an approved Faculty of Law.

Now our Faggot and LGBTQ sub-human friends are even more "outraged"
because yesterday the Law Society of BC in a vote of 20 to 6  approved
Trinity Western University's new Faculty of Law.

The other Provincial Law Societies must also approve it, if future TWU
Faculty of Law graduates wish to practice in the rest of Canada. There
is a schedule of upcoming votes most notably the Ontario Law Society
on April 24.

It is more than apparent TWU has won the war with the Faggots. The
decision taken by the British Columbia Law Society referenced a recent
Supreme Court of Canada decision when the Queers and animals in the BC
College of Teachers tried to prevent TWU accreditation over that same
clause. The SCOC opined in favour of Trinity Western University noting
"the proper place to draw the line, is generally between belief and
conduct." It is a fundamental right to assemble, and freely, and
openly practice religious beliefs. This the Law Societies and the SCOC
have recognized here in this instance, and other cases.

Here is another case of Faggot and LGBTQ pigs trying "run their shitty
rag up the pole"  and deny real, and normal Canadians their rights.

So to our little friend, the "gender creative" Tony Luong  another Law
School is a good thing right! Too bad YOU will never have intellectual
capacity to get into a Law School anywhere

Tartan Day

Tartan Day Proclamations
What is Tartan Day?

Each year, Scots and their descendants around the world celebrate their cultural identity with a variety of special anniversaries: on November 30th, they honour Saint Andrew, Patron Saint of Scotland; on January 25th, they celebrate Scottish literature on the birthday of the poetic genius, Robbie Burns; and on April 6th, they recognize the contribution of Scots and their descendants to Canadian life by celebrating Tartan Day

First adopted in Nova Scotia in 1987, Tartan Day spread to Canada’s other provincial and territorial jurisdictions in the first half of the 1990s, to the United States by Act of Congress in 1998, and then to Australia and New Zealand. After many years of lobbying by Scottish associations and societies across Canada, in 2010 the government proclaimed Tartan Day to be a national holiday.

When the holiday was established in New Brunswick in November 1992 (to be first celebrated in 1993), then-premier Frank McKenna proclaimed that “Scottish immigrants and their descendants have played, and will continue to play, a major role in the development of the Canadian and New Brunswick identity. Therefore, it is with great pleasure that I declare today, April 6, and every April 6 thereafter, as Tartan Day in New Brunswick.”

In the 2010 proclamation, Hon. James Moore, Minister of Canadian Heritage expressed similar sentiments: “On this day, all Canadians will have the opportunity to celebrate and learn about Scottish culture, traditions, and heritage, as well as their contribution to Canadian society....I encourage people all across the country to celebrate on that date [April 6th] the contributions of millions of Canadians of Scottish ancestry in building our country.”

It is with this sentiment in mind that the New Brunswick Scottish Cultural Association asks each and every person of Scottish descent to don their tartan to commemorate this important day. Please visit the NBSCA Events Calendar to see how your community will be commemorating Tartan Day.

Why April 6th?

On 6th April 1320 the Scottish nobility, following the Second War of Scottish Independence, issued the Declaration of Arbroath. This document was forwarded to Pope John XXII in Avignon, France, establishing the historical independence of Scotland and the rights of the Scottish people (though ‘people’ at the time was not so all-encompassing a word as we might suspect) to choose their own monarch - no matter how vehemently the King of England claimed otherwise. It is, perhaps, the most important document in Scottish political history, effectively the Scottish "declaration of independence." On Tartan Day we celebrate our freedom to acknowledge and to celebrate our Scottish heritage.

The New Brunswick Scottish Cultural Association (NBSCA), founded in 1980, proactively encourages public interest in the history, traditions, arts and crafts, and culture of Scotland and of those of Scottish descent and the languages of Scotland within the Province of New Brunswick. The NBSCA has acted as the advocate of New Brunswick's Scottish associations and communities. In fact, the NBSCA works on behalf of the 142,560 New Brunswickers of a total population of 729,997 - about one in six - who claim direct Scottish ancestry. (Government of Canada Census, 2006)

HISTORY OF THE FOUNDING OF THE NBSCA

Twenty eight years ago a group of men and women came together with one goal in mind the creation of a body that would encompass and represent the disparate Scottish cultural groups in the Province of New Brunswick. Twenty eight years ago, from very modest beginnings, was born the New Brunswick Scottish-Cultural Association. Since that time, the NBSCA has evolved into a proactive organization; a focal point for the Scotophiles of New Brunswick, and one that aggressively promotes and protects the interests of Scottish culture in the province.

The history of the NBSCA actually goes back to 1976. Just as the United States was celebrating the bicentennial of the Declaration of Independence, the province of New Brunswick was looking forward to 1984, the bicentennial of its own creation. In the wake of the Loyalist and armed forces exodus from New York City in 1783, the Colonial Office in London carved New Brunswick out of what was then northwestern Nova Scotia in 1784. Despite the popular misconception that the Loyalists were the upper echelons of colonial American society, the Loyalists were actually a cross-section of anglophone North American society, with many classes, occupations and cultural groups represented amongst them English, Welsh, Irish, German, and of relevance to us, Scot. Scots were well represented in the rolls of refugees from the American Revolution, and indeed, the 42nd Black Watch Regiment was disbanded and settled at Nashwaak. Indeed, Scots played a crucial role in the founding of New Brunswick and have contributed to its development since the beginnings of the province.

In the late 1970's, however, the Scots of New Brunswick found themselves in a cultural vacuum. Although New Brunswick was home to many Scottish societies and associations (some quite venerable) and although the province could boast Highland dance troupes and Highland pipe bands, there was no venue in the province in which to showcase Scottish culture. In the words of Ellen MacGillivray, one founders of the NBSCA, "here we were in New Brunswick, a province with many Scots and descendants of Scots, sitting idly by accepting or believing that Nova Scotia had a monopoly on all things Scottish in the Maritimes." Over the years there had been several valiant but unsustainable attempts at staging annual Highland Games in Rothesay, outside of Saint John. Public support and interest in this event was limited. The prime force behind the Rothesay Highland Games was Ellen's husband, Hugh George MacGillivray.

By 1979, Ellen was the President of the Fredericton Society of Saint Andrew, and she was fortunate to have as members of that Society vibrant personalities such as John Allan Duff, Dugald Richford, Herbert Sewell, and Ernest Grant. These enthusiastic individuals strongly felt the need for New Brunswick Scots to gather; to show pride in their heritage and culture. It was in 1980 that discussion and planning for a provincial association and provincial Highland games turned to actions.
In early April 1980, at John Allan Duff's behest, a weekend meeting took place between the Fredericton Society of Saint Andrew and the Caledonian Society of Restigouche. Encouraged by the success of these discussions with the purpose to create a provincial body, letters were sent to fifteen New Brunswick Scottish societies inviting them to an organization picnic, a tradition of the Fredericton Society. Among the charter associations were the Caledonian Society of Restigouche, the Highland Society of New Brunswick at Miramichi, the Saint Andrew's Society of Saint John, the Upper St. John Valley Society of Saint Andrew, the Black's Harbour Saint Andrew's Society, the Fredericton Scottish Country Dancers, the Moncton Scottish Association, the Moncton Albion Dancers, the Fredericton Society of Saint Andrew Pipe Band, the Black Watch Association (New Brunswick Chapter), the Moncton Bend Pipe Band and all from Saint John, the Kiwanis Junior Pipe Band, the Heather Legion Pipe Band, and the Caledonia Pipe Band. A special invitation was issued to Hon. Leland McGaw, former Minister of Tourism. Mr. Duff noted that "an endeavour is being made to unite all the various societies under a parental organization."

On April 26, a meeting was held at Perth-Andover for the purpose of forming a Provincial Society. In attendance were members of the Caledonia Society of Restigouche, The Fredericton Society of Saint Andrew and interested persons from the Perth -Andover area. Ellen MacGillivray was appointed Chairman of the meeting and John Allan Duff, Secretary. Discussions were held and it was determined that there was enough interest in the area to attempt to reactivate the Upper St. John River Valley Scottish Society and to proceed with the formation of a Provincial Scottish Society. Some of the members offered to contact former members of the Upper Valley Society to ascertain if a charter existed and the whereabouts of regalia, badges, ribbons, etc. Also seven persons were appointed from the Valley group to assemble as many persons as possible on May 3 for the consideration of the formation and election of officers to an Upper St. John Valley Association. It was resolved that a further meeting should take place between the members of the Caledonia Society of Restigouche, the Fredericton Society of Saint Andrew, the Highland Society of New Brunswick at Miramichi, the Upper St. John River Scottish Society and other interested Scottish organizations. During the meeting a temporary slate of officers would be elected and a temporary set of by-laws adopted to avoid any delay in the formation of the Society. This was to be subject to a full election at a later date. It was resolved that time be set aside at the picnic on June 21 for further discussion on the Provincial Scottish Society.

That same afternoon a meeting hosted by the Highland Society of New Brunswick was taking place at Miramichi, attended by like-minded individuals. The Scots of northern New Brunswick had also recognized the need for a provincial organization.

On May 3, a further planned meeting was held in the Elks Lodge at Perth-Andover. Represented were the Upper St. John Valley Society of Saint Andrew, the Caledonia Society of Restigouche, the Fredericton Society of Saint Andrew, the Highland Society of New Brunswick at Miramichi, the Fredericton Scottish Country Dancers, and the Caledonia Society of Restigouche Lassies. Ellen MacGillivray and John Allan Duff were appointed by acclamation to act as Chair and Secretary respectively. Mr. Cormier, Director of Cultural Resources and Recreation Branch of the provincial Department of Youth spoke to the group on the kinds of assistance available to volunteer groups and suggested that financial assistance might be available for the styled "1st Annual Picnic of a Provincial Scottish Society." (The new organization had not yet been named.) Delegates were advised to contact Mr. Rudy Chaisson of Fredericton and provide him with copies of minutes. During the meeting a recess was called so that the Perth-Andover Group could elect a slate of Officers for its Society. Furthermore, Lou Bursey of the Highland Society of New Brunswick gave a report on the April 26 meeting at Miramichi. His Society endorsed the plans, and they were pleased to dispatch a delegation from the Highland Society of New Brunswick at Miramichi.

A poll of the societies present indicated that all were in agreement that a Provincial Society should be formed. This was verified by motion. It also was moved that the Fredericton representatives be appointed to act as a temporary committee for the Provincial Society until a permanent slate of officers could be elected at a provincial gathering. Before disbanding, each society was presented a draft copy of by-laws for the proposed association. These were to be studied and desired changes were to be made at the next meeting following the Fredericton picnic.

On June 21, the "picnic" was held at York Centennial Park, near Fredericton. It was a great success. Many representatives brought their travel trailers to provide shelter. In John Allan Duff's words, " the original concept was for a very informal picnic, but one which would include Scottish games and competitions for pipers, drummers and highland dancers." As the event grew in scale during the course of the day, it became evident that more financial assistance was required. The Organizing Committee was required to abide by competition rules, to have present qualified judges, and so on. This had not been the intent of the picnic and there were many minor problems and disputes.

Regardless, the whole event came through with a deficit of only $315.00. Trophies had been provided, meals had been served, judges were paid. Much valuable experience was gained and most important, the Scots of New Brunswick became acquainted.

In summary, the Acting Chairman and Acting Secretary had met with Mr. Johnson, Provincial Co-ordinator from the Department of Youth, Recreation and Cultural Resources. He outlined to the part his branch could play in providing support in leadership development, financial and administrative assistance upon reviewing the draft by-laws. Unfortunately he became ill soon after the meeting.

On June 10, Mr. Johnson's office was contacted and the situation was discussed with a Mr. Wagstaff. At a meeting at his office on June 16, the tentative bylaws were approved and it was noted that they met the requirements of the Department for funding. Ellen MacGillivray contacted Clifford Kennedy of the Fredericton Regional Office on June 13 and requested financial assistance for the picnic.

On June 22nd, 1980, the delegates "got down to business." The organizational meeting of "a New Brunswick Society for the Promotion of Scottish Culture" was held in G-12 of the Centennial Building, Fredericton. At that meeting, Chair Ellen MacGillivray reported on the events that had occurred between May 3 and June 22. Following the picnic, the first provincial executive was elected. This was the first executive of the newly formed "New Brunswick Scottish-Cultural Association":
President John Allan Duff, Fredericton 1st Vice President Everett McKinnon, Atholville 2nd Vice President William Libby, Moncton Secretary-Treasurer Dugald Richford, Fredericton

The new executive met often during the summer months and on August 3, 1980 the New Brunswick Scottish Cultural Association was incorporated. A constitutional meeting was held on September 27, 1980 at Tide Head, New Brunswick, where a constitution was presented and ratified by delegates.
Until recently, the primary focus of the Association has been placed on the development and evolution of the Highland games. In 1981 the first New Brunswick Highland Games were held in Fredericton at the Exhibition Grounds. There was a grand parade of automobiles, bands, and representatives from over the province. In 1984 it was a great disappointment to John Allan when there was no provincial assistance for a traveling display for the Bicentennial Celebrations. However, the Games went forward and a great celebration took place on the Nashwaak by the newly formed 1784-1984 Nashwaak Bicentennial Association

The history of the New Brunswick Highland Games & Scottish Festival is a story unto itself. Here, as well, the persistence of John Allan Duff and others assured the evolution of a glorious event that is the pride of New Brunswick Scots. If you examine the original constitution you will realize that you are fulfilling the original concept for an Association. Today, there are 25 affiliate associations; membership has increased 60%, the New Brunswick Scottish Journal is distributed across the province; a scholarship has been established.

In the twenty eight years since John Allan Duff called the Scots of New Brunswick to gather, the New Brunswick Scottish Cultural Association has exceeded its founder's most lofty goals.
Finally, the Scots of New Brunswick proudly recognize themselves as a founding culture of this province.
